I know the bitter taste of an outdated CV or Resume. And with so much information around it is really overwhelming to start updating your CV.

A modern CV is a strategic letter, like a sales letter. When it comes to us, international ladies around their 40s, one of the most tricky things is to decide when to cut off old experiences.

You don’t need all your past experience on your CV - use LinkedIn for that as well. Leave more details on your LinkedIn profile, otherwise, you’ll come up with a long and boring CV or Resume.

Here are 3 actionable steps you can follow and get started to finally update your CV.

STEP ONE - PERSONAL INFORMATION
No need to write too much personal information on your CV or Resume. What you need there is:
• Name
• Email
• Telephone
• Location
• LinkedIn URL

STEP TWO - HEADLINE
Your CV or Resume headline must match exactly the job title you’re applying for. It’s your job position target.

STEP THREE - OPTIMIZE IT WITH KEYWORDS AND QUANTIFY YOUR EXPERIENCE
It’s like using SEO (search engine optimization) techniques also on your CV or Resume. Research the job posts and find at least 5 words that you can also use on your CV.
The key to a CV or Resume transformation is to face it as a strategic part on your job hunting plan, and not as a mere (and boring) collection of tasks.

And my last piece of advice is to work on quantifying your experience, and your measurable results. This is what I call a smartCV®: when you tie up what employers are looking for with your strengths and past experiences anchored in results. It’s an unbeatable combination!
