The 2022 Workforce State of Mind Survey found that 57% of respondents working in fitness and active leisure reported experiencing a mental health issue in the last 12 months. 42% of employers surveyed said they have a wellbeing strategy they communicate to all employees, while 78% of respondents feel well equipped to support a colleague with a mental health issue and 75% said their line manager cared about their mental wellbeing. These results show a mixed picture and there is still work to be done.

In this webinar, Andy Gilbert-Dunnings, Qualification Development Manager at Active IQ is joined by Katie Lewis and Lindsey Simpson from Workplace Mental Health to discuss these and other key results from survey. They provide insights into possible reasons for these findings and offer ideas on what employers and employees can do to improve mental health and wellbeing within the sector. The panel also consider the importance of normalising conversations and driving positive action around mental health for everyone working in fitness and active leisure and give real life examples of how this can be achieved.
