US Visa only lets you get to the Port of Entry. It doesn't automatically let you into the US. As a traveler, it's your job to convince the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer to let you into the US by answering his or her questions correctly. If the CBP officer is not sure, they may not let you in and send you back to the country you came from. The questions at the port of entry change based on why you are travelling.

Before we proceed further, let’s understand the purpose of CBP officer at port of entry.

The Role of CBP Officers in Verifying Visa Applicants' Identity, Supporting Documents, Purpose, and Intent
The process of obtaining a US visa can be complex, and once an individual has obtained a visa, they must pass through a US port of entry to gain admission into the country. At the port of entry, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers play a crucial role in verifying the identity of visa applicants, validating their supporting documents, and determining the purpose and intent of their travel. Let's explore the various responsibilities of a CBP officer in the visa application process.
Identity Verification
CBP officers' primary objective is to verify the identity of visa applicants and ensure that they are the same person who applied for the visa. They do this by checking personal details such as the applicant's name, date of birth, and nationality. CBP officers also take fingerprints to confirm the applicant's identity, which helps them to detect fraudulent visa applications and prevent identity theft.
