Places covered in this vlog:
1. Faruk Güllüoğlu
Güllüoğlu, whose name is identical with baklava rather than being a brand or a company name, is the name of a family from Gaziantep who has been dealing with baklava for 5 generations since 1871. In 1871, the great grandfather Güllü Çelebi decided to do this job he saw in Aleppo on the way to Hajj. He had in mind to remake the wonderful dessert he had learned there on his own land. Until that day, it was Güllü Çelebi, who introduced baklava to the public for the first time, while it was a dessert that was eaten in the Ottoman palace but was made by special masters brought from different provinces for this purpose and did not go out of the palace and was unknown to the public.

Güllü Çelebi rolled out 40 layers of thin dough and combined it with delicious butter and sherbet, and decorated it with pistachios. This is how baklava, a treasure of golden flavor, was born with the wheat of the Harran Plain and its thin layered dough like tulle, the world-famous Pistachio, pure Urfa butter and thick sherbet. Baklava was a gift to the Turkish cuisine of the Güllüoğlu family, who produced the most valuable dessert of a nation that eats sweets and speaks sweetly.

Blue Mosque
The Blue Mosque in Istanbul, also known by its official name, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is an Ottoman-era historical imperial mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey. A functioning mosque, it also attracts large numbers of tourist visitors. It was constructed between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I.

Arasta Bazaar
The Arasta Bazaar on the southeast side of Istanbul's Blue Mosque is worth visiting for its many shops selling carpets, kilims, Turkish tiles, apparel and souvenirs.

While you're here, you can visit the Great Palace Mosaic Museum beneath the Arasta.

An arasta is a series of shops built beneath or near a mosque. Rent from the shops provides money for the maintenance and repair of the mosque.

These shops were empty and derelict for many years until the tourism boom of the late 1980s and 1990s convinced those in charge to restore and rent them. Now the Arasta Bazaar (marked on some maps as the southwestern continuation of Kabasakal Caddesi) is among Istanbul's most-visited tourist markets.

Süleymaniye Mosque
The truly staggering size of the Süleymaniye Camii (Suleymaniye Mosque) is one of its most distinctive features – built by the legendary architect, Mimar Sinan, it is known as one of his masterpieces, and his largest design. It is not just the awe-inspiring size that is impressive (the central dome stands 47m high), but also the elegantly decorated interior. The sense of space and light is emphasized in the supporting semi-domes to the northwest and southeast and the monumental arched spaces to the southwest and northeast.
It took eight years to build and was completed in 1557, a tribute to Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent. The beautiful Suleymaniye Mosque is a fitting tribute to both the sultan and the architect. Suleyman was the longest-reigning sultan of the Ottoman Empire (1520-1566) and is regarded by some as a “Second Solomon” because of the harmony and justice under his rule.
