Tesla Gigafactory Texas 5 February 2022 Cyber Truck & Model Y Factory Construction Update (08:30AM)

Published
Gigafactory Texas on 5 February 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

The wintery weather is finally moving off and temperatures are expected to rise through the week. This morning started at 25 F (~ -7 C), but clear blue skies and light winds made flying pleasant.
Not a lot going on outside the factory this morning, but I expect it to pick up as the temperatures rise above freezing. Not a lot of Tesla employee cars in the parking lot when I arrived, but there were many contractor cars there as well. Most of the action I saw was deliveries all over the main factory building.
In the introduction, we look at the recent wintery weather . We also discuss recent news articles from mainstream media exclaiming that Giga Texas is getting a battery Cathode plant … and review multiple videos from 2021 where we discussed this in detail, so viewers of this channel know this is hardly news. What is news is that finally the permit to build the facility has been registered with the City of Austin, so we may see construction beginning in the near future. Links to more information on this subject are located below in the sources section.

Some highlights from this morning include:
- 12 more mobile superchargers have been delivered to the far east staging area. These are like the 12 already installed on the east side of the body-in-white structure near the powerlines
- I saw several trucks moving equipment and silver-wrapped parts from the far east staging area to the battery cell structure, then get moved inside via forklifts and cranes. Many more similar silver-wrapped, as well as white and green wrapped equipment seem to be headed to the battery cell structure as well from the far east staging area.
- On the east parking lot area, continued earthmoving work near where the trailers, as does some more underground storm water pipe installation. Most of the central concrete has been poured
- As mentioned, many deliveries at the battery cell structure, and these seem to be going to the ground, second, and third floors. On the roof, the area next to the north wall still needs the final weatherproof lining installed, and we see the 14 HVAC ducts covered with temporary lids, waiting for final assembly work.
- The northwest corner excavation and widening work has not progressed much in the past few days, but we see equipment for the silo mixers almost completely moved inside and cleared out, and some of the large crates that were delivered a few days ago have also been moved inside.
- Solar panel installation work has not progressed much in the past few days, understandable due to all the ice and well-below freezing temperatures. There is a crane positioned on the west side where more solar panels are likely to be delivered and then moved to the roof for installation.
- We tour the west side foundation and stating area, seeing a lot of materials, equipment and materials temporarily stored here
- On the south end, we see more work preparing for concrete on the Phase 2 extension/parking area, as well as more deliveries to the south end of the General Assembly structure. On the roof, we see more sloped interface work between the stamping and stamping extension roof areas.
