SKILLING THE YOUTH: State house backs Kigezi youths in job hunt

Government has commissioned the Presidential Initiative for Zonal Industrial Hub in Kigezi region that is planned to skill underprivileged youths in the six Kigezi districts of Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rubanda, Rukiga and Rukungiri. The programme is among the twenty industrial hubs stationed in all sub regions across the country that will train the underprivileged youth every year, under the presidential initiative on skilling. According to State house comptroller, Ms Jane Barekye, the hubs, one of the president's election promises, are targeted at youths aged between 18-35years, in the areas of carpentry, welding, shoe making, welding, confectionery, tailoring and knitting, stone making, and hair dressing among others. They are planned to be spread around the country.
