Sister Aysha's distressing Diary of challenging Trade Union Racism and Racism at work

Published
As ever I have to hide behind male leaders, look to their status to get my point across, last year it was my mentor Prof Jim at LSHTM.

Last Wednesday my employer SOAS was imposing on my rights, what was angry way of communication in response to the racism I faced from Union and I saw management seem to be in collusion with them to prop them up and make it seem the union activity was of significance, when we had a situation unions were not representative.

I asked the management have they made any attempt to include Cleaning and security colleagues to attend this all staff meeting.

I sent angry email to the union to describe my experience of wide spread UCU Solidarity Committee racism me and other members of Interunion4SOocialJustice faced.

This is quite draconian to shut down challenging of racism by white people who don't even gave you chance to understand why you communicated this way. They want to just bulldoze you from the start. I was treated awfully, invited to a meeting without knowing what it is about. Bunch of unqualified people were concerned for my welfare, well as you can see Aysha the big shot leader was in a rally they SOAS UCU was apparently supporting no one attended no one gave us details, they gave money. No conversation about I wonder what we can do with our skills to ensure Black power structure is built so this does not happen. It is these same members who complained about me so what can we expect of them.

I wonder if my branch will be looking into this how vulnerable black, brown, Muslim women are treated, bearing in mind I am still on probations, one of the most precarious time of work or campaigning for pensions and pay of lecturers on 60K salaries.

A huge thanks to Brother Glenroy the legend, only our won can have our back, back of unqualified, unprofessional people, Sister Aysha will bnot be silenced, Interunion4Social justice will not be silenced into safe spaces, our space is public space to take our hurt, anger, injustice and fight.

Its cool to God willing hide behind Big Black, Wise, elegant Male leader liek Brother Glenroy. In sha Allah soon will be my time to be the powerful leader too. !!!
