Inclusive Workplaces; Supporting Employers to support Employees. Session 1 of 3. guest speakers; Employers for Change, EmployAbility West Cork.

Outline of sessions:

Ability West Cork and EmployAbility West Cork are hosting a set of three short, 45 minute webinars throughout March (1st, 8th and 15th, 12-12.45pm). These webinars surround inclusivity in the workplace. We hope to inform and support employers who employ people with disabilities throughout the series. Guest speakers include Employers for Change, See Change, Mental Health First Aid Ireland and the Well Institute. A whole host of topics will be discussed and we will hear from Claire Kane, a See Change Ambassador, as she discusses her lived experience, highlighting the need to end mental health stigma in the workplace. Employers for Change will help us to understand disability in the workplace, the importance of reasonable accommodation and how to support an employee if they choose to disclose to their employer. Donal Scanlan, Mental Health First Aid Ireland (MHFA) manager, will discuss supportive behaviours in the workplace and highlight how useful MHFA training is to help support inclusive workplaces. Valerie Wistreich of the Well Institute will give us some practical and sustainable tools and strategies to support mental wellbeing in the workplace and will walk us through an experiential exercise. EmployAbility West Cork will discuss financial supports for employers and ways that employers can be supported by their service. Ability West Cork will provide facilitation of the event and welcome any questions or queries before, during or after the events.
