Right to Disconnect Legislation in Ontario - Employment Lawyer on Global News

Published
People working in Ontario may soon have the right to unplug from calls and emails once the work day is done, thanks to proposed right to disconnect legislation proposed by the Ontario government. Working for Workers, Bill 27, will apply to businesses with 25 or more employees. It also seeks to ban companies from trying to use a non-compete clause to stop former staff from going to work for the competitor across the street.

What are the legally implications of the legislation? Employment lawyer Lior Samfiru, co-founding partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, discussed during Global News' Work: What's Next segment on the Global Morning Show.
