South Australian football legend Russell Ebert has died.

The Port Adelaide great passed away peacefully this afternoon following a long battle with leukaemia.

Ebert was a champion in every sense, a four-time Magarey Medallist with three premierships, but he was also revered for his work off the field, working tirelessly for charities for decades.

The humble and much-loved 72-year-old will forever remain an inspiration to all South Australians.
