NMIS Insights - The global skills search: looking beyond our borders

Published
As we manufacture a net-zero future, me must create more jobs that combat climate change and embrace industry 4.0 while transforming existing roles to ensure they are future proofed.

Join us for a webinar delivered by the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy that will look beyond our own borders and explore how other countries identify skills gaps and source the best talent.

You’ll learn more about what they’re doing in Germany, a country consistently at the forefront of industrial leadership, as we identify how to strengthen our own approach to finding the right talent here in Scotland.

Who should attend
This webinar is perfect for anyone within government bodies or education who has an interest or say on skills strategies. Those within learning and development and/or human resources will also benefit.

What we'll cover
Dr Florian Egli, Senior Researcher and Lecturer at ETH Zurich, will provide an insight into his work across Germany, analysing the location of relevant skill sets and identifying future industries and skill requirements. His work helps outline what skills will be needed across Scotland.

You'll also hear from Stewart McKinley, Skills Director at NMIS, who will discuss support provided by the MSA funded by the Scottish Government's £25 million National Transition Training Fund (NTTF), which was created to support people who have lost their job or are at risk of redundancy as a result of the pandemic.

As part of NTTF, the NMIS Manufacturing Skills Academy provides graduate training and free courses for both individuals and companies, in addition to other learning and support opportunities.
