New York City mayor vows to have mentally ill people on the streets brought to hospitals

The NYT reported that Mayor Eric Adams has directed police and medical workers to provide involuntary assistance for the mentally ill. A viewer brought the story to our attention because Portland is dealing with similar issues of untreated mental illness. But there are a lot of reasons why this probably wouldn't fly in Portland.
