Transgender employees at Netflix are planning a walkout for Oct. 20 in protest of statements made by their company’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos.

Sarandos appears to stand in support of Dave Chappelle’s latest comedy special, “The Closer,” which has placed the comedian at the center of criticism for jokes deemed homophobic and transphobic. The co-CEO told Netflix staff that they wouldn’t be pulling the special, citing “artistic freedom.”

LGBTQ+ leaders and allies say Chappelle’s comments are insensitive and damaging. Culture creator Touré, along with author, national organizer and trans activist Hope Giselle, join Marc Lamont Hill to take an informative look at the controversy and answer some of the wider questions it raises.
