MSHA’s New Silica Enforcement Initiative – Free Webinar co-sponsored by MTBMA

Published
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has launched a new silica enforcement initiative. MSHA will increase silica sampling at mines, covering all workers with potential exposures, including contractors. This initiative aligns with the agency’s key focus on silica, and a proposed rule will be released in September. This webinar will cover a brief overview of hazards and steps MSHA plans on taking to ensure compliance with current rules, what data can be requested (including internal sampling results), PPE issues and more. The program will also recap developments with OSHA’s silica rule, including changes to Table 1 and medical removal requirements.
