LIVE: Twitter whistleblower Peiter 'Mudge' Zatko testifies on security flaws before Senate — 9/13/22

The Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing Tuesday where the members will hear testimony from Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, who has alleged that Twitter has a number of egregious security flaws and oversights.

In a complaint with the SEC, Zatko alleged that he “witnessed senior executive engaging in deceitful and/or misleading communications affecting Board members, users and shareholders” on multiple occasions in 2021, during which CEO Parag Agrawal asked Zatko to provide false and misleading documents.

The complaint took on extra significance given Twitter’s recent lawsuit against Elon Musk, who sought to buy the company for $44 billion but then tried to back out of the deal, claiming Twitter should have been more forthcoming with information about how it calculates its percentage of spam accounts.

A judge in the case recently said Musk could revise his counterclaims to reference issues Zatko raised.
