Labor's climate policy a 'sell-out': Canavan

Published
Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says Labor's climate policy is a "sell-out", after the party revealed it intends to cut emissions by 43 per cent by 2030.

"It's not about the next election ... it's about everyone's jobs around Australia and this policy is a massive sell-out of Australian jobs to other countries," Mr Canavan told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

He said there is neither a climate conference, nor other countries "demanding Anthony Albanese adopt a target".

"This is the Labor Party thinking it should take unilateral action to put pressure on Australian jobs, when it won't decrease the temperature of the globe, and no other country has to cut their emissions or put a penalty on their industries in return."
