Job search advice nobody tells you

In this week’s video, we’re going to go over job search advice that no one ever tells you. That’s coming up.

Hi guys, I’m Kim with Snagajob, your number one source for hourly jobs and welcome to our weekly advice show.

When you’re looking for a job, everyone seems to give the same advice - format your resume correctly, dress professionally, etc. What about those insider tips that will help you prepare and set you apart? No worries, we’ve got your back.

First, practice the drive.

Head to the location a day before to see how much travel time you should give yourself to get to the interview early.

Second, don’t be better, be different.

People usually try to 1-up the competition. But if you can bring something different to the table, you will shine with employers. Employers tell us that an awesome personality and people skills are more important than experience.

Third, getting a job is a job itself.

You might know this already, but it’s common for job seekers to think that finding a job will be quick and easy. While we work hard to make that happen and love to hear those stories, it’s not always the case. A little patience might have to come into play.

Fourth, take everything in.

Listen to the feedback interviewer’s give you. Learn from the mistakes you and others make and apply that to your job search. The more you know, the easier the process will be.

Now that you know all the insider tips and tricks, get out there and apply. Good luck!
