First thing that I want to say about this movie without delving into the main aspects: This movie is decently made visually stunning horrorshow of a movie. Every single, and i mean it, every single scene is beautiful and visually soothing in some way. Although, the plot is the exact opposite of the serenity those scenes encompass. The plot of "Incendies" is based on a play by Wajdi Mouawad, described as consisting of poetic monologues.

The story starts off with a twin brother and sister who are on the verge of finding out their mother's history, and also a quest for their brother. Initially, they are approached by their mother's employer who hands them two letters mentioning about finding their brother. This leads to a sense of confusion among them as to what significance these letters hold. As they travel through a fictional middle-eastern region, with a history of brutal civil wars and merciless killings, they unravel things that they wished they didn't knew.

Incendies is a classic Denis slow-burn movie, but what separates this from other movies is the intensity every scene captures. It's all chaotic, grotesque, but realistic portrayal of war-like situations and the ruins that come with it.

The acting is the best part of this movie, all actors have done an excellent job at conveying the perfect amount of feelings and emotions that they are experiencing, especially Lubna Azabal, who played the character of Nawal did an amazing job.

The other best thing that makes the whole movie worth the watch is the shocker at the end. I'm literally short of words on how shocking the ending was. Additionally, the way it has been presented to us is something that Denis masters in. There's no booming soundtrack, or chaos, just a mere subtleness and a cryptic presentation of a mind boggling shocker.
