ICU Nurse Exposes Dangers Forcing Experienced Health Care Workers To Quit Their Jobs

Published
The Majority Report crew react to a video of a nurse explaining why he quit his job— the constant strain on healthcare workers due to Covid and its resurging variants such as Omicron. In the video, he clarifies that there is not a shortage of experienced nurses but that current conditions have led them to join travel agencies where they are paid better. He also talks about how newly graduated nurses are being placed into two-year contracts, and how nurses need to unionize for better working conditions and pay. The crew discusses the importance of not just recognizing health care workers but also compensating them for their efforts during these critical times.

Emma Vigeland: we're experiencing frustration about some of this anti-vac stuff um as just media hosts and people that work and cover this stuff every day, but it pales in comparison to what ICU nurses and healthcare workers are experiencing. So this one yeah this was tweeted out yesterday by an ICU nurse who is named Andrew and he posted a two-part video to Twitter explaining why he actually quit being an ICU nurse because the omicron wave became too much. He is based in Michigan as my understanding Michigan is a right-to-work state and that becomes relevant when you hear him describe his experience.
