How To Become An #IAS Officer :

To become an IAS officer the candidate needs to crack the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). After passing the UPSC-CSE exam only an aspiring candidate can become an IAS officer.

•Eligibility Criteria -
Age Limit

The minimum age criteria to appear for the UPSC CSE exam are at least 21 years of age.The maximum age limit where a candidate can become an IAS officer for the general the category is 32 years, And the maximum limit for the OBC category is 35 yearsAlso, for of SC/ST category is 37 years.

•Educational Qualification
To become an IAS officer and crack the UPSC CSE exam a candidate should hold a graduation degree from any recognized University. Even a candidate appearing for the final year of graduation can appear for this examination.Candidates who have taken correspondence education are also eligible for this examination.Digits with a technical degree are also eligible.

•Number Of Attempts

For the general category, the candidate is limited to 6 attempts.And for that off OBC, the candidate has a limit of 9 attempts.An SC/ST candidate has no limit till 37 years of age.

•What Is The #UPSC CSE Exam?

UPSC is nothing but stands for union public service commission which conducts the CSE exam. It is one of the toughest competitive exams in India.
UPSC CSE exam takes place in three stages namely

1. Preliminary exam
2. Mains exam
3. Interview process

1.Preliminary Exam
This exam consists of multiple-choice questions. And also has a negative marking of 0.33 marks as a penalty. The duration of the paper is of 2 hours with a total mark of 400.
Paper 1
Current affairs, Indian history, and politics.

Paper 2

Civil service aptitude test (CSAT).

2.Mains Exam
After qualifying for the preliminary exam the candidate is eligible for the Mains exam. Mains exam is a descriptive type of exam. It includes a total of nine papers and total marks of 1750.
Syllabus for the Mains Exam

Essay on any topic Indian Heritage, Culture, Geography Constitution, Governance, Social Justice Technology, Environment, Disaster Management Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude Indian Language (Anyone of the language)English language

3.Interview Process

After passing the objective and the subjective exam a candidate is eligible for the last interview process. Only a few candidates reached this final round. After qualifying and cracking the interview the candidate becomes an IAS officer.
During the interview, subjective personal skills, as well as the mental ability of the candidate, are checked. After the selection of the candidate, he is given the training and posted accordingly.
