If you’ve been Googling how to write a good resume for 2021, a resume that will actually stand out and get you noticed, you probably have come across the 6 second resume rule, 6 second resume scan, 6 second resume review, 6 second resume test, or any other type of name for the 6 seconds that your resume has in front of a recruiter’s eyeballs at first review.

6 seconds feels like a blip in time. And it really is...for those of us who don’t review resumes for a living.

But recruiters and talent acquisitions professionals DO review resumes for a living. So how recruiters read resumes when they’re doing a 6 second resume review or scan, there’s just a lot more is going on.

They can review a resume in 6 seconds and make an expert assessment as to whether to interview or not.

So let’s talk about how to pass the 6 second resume scan!

When we think about how to pass the 6 second resume review, it’s all about making our resumes easy to read, easy to digest, and easy to see or envision how we can bring value to the job to which we’re applying.

In this video, I’m going to cover how to pass the 6 second resume test with the 5S method. We’re going to use Kevin Malone’s philosophies on life (and work) from The Office to help present each of the 5S concepts that will help you write your resume in 2021.
