HOW Spencer Dinwiddie has TRANSFORMED the Mavericks Offense | Film Breakdown

So last night the Dallas Mavericks got a very nice win over the Los Angeles Lakers and as of late the Mavericks have gotten great play out of their trade deadline acquisition Spencer Dinwiddie as he’s seemed to find new life after being traded to the Mavs for Kristaps Porzingis back on February 10th. There’s a few reasons as to why Dinwiddie has looked like his former self since arriving in Dallas and today I wanna breakdown and talk about why that is. last night the Mavericks got a very solid win over the LA Lakers by a score of 109-104 and while I wanna talk about Dinwiddie in this video, I think it is important to mention that Luka Doncic really helped this Mavericks team accelerate to the finish line in last night’s game. Spencer Dinwiddie was the player who ran the offense on the Mavs second unit as well as scored the majority of the Mavs bench points. Dinwiddie didn’t shoot all that great but he still didn’t shoot bad as he finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds on 5 for 11 shooting from the field. Dinwiddie’s great passing was on display last night as you can tell from the 9 assists in that stat line and that’s a great transition into one thing Dinwiddie has added to this Mavericks team. The reason this Mavs team is more dangerous now is that Dinwiddie is another great facilitator alongside Luka. Now as just mentioned just Dinwiddie’s ability to be another great facilitator in this Mavs offense has been huge but another thing he’s added to this Mavs team is his perimeter shooting. Now Dinwiddie has only made 8 threes in the five games he’s played with the Mavericks, but I think his ability to shoot the three ball is not only big for the Mavs going forward, but it’s one reason why the team has gone 4-1 since Dinwiddie’s arrived in Dallas. The final thing has been Dinwiddie’s ability to drive with a 5 out offense which the Washington Wizards and their poor spacing couldn’t help Dinwiddie in doing. So after locker room issues in Washington, it seems a change of scenery is all that was needed for Spencer Dinwiddie and he has looked like his old self ever since arriving in Dallas.
