I used to live in Boston and I am definitely not ordering food based on the restaurant's website. It's their best foot forward! What I am really interested in is the Yelp reviews. I can see others' experiences before me, and in aggregate, assume that I can have a similar experience.

Employer brands are just a façade that companies put up to try and attract top talent (like a shiny website), but employees want to see what it's truly like to work at the organization, and they are getting smart. They will look at reviews on Glassdoor, or reach out on LinkedIn to the team they'd be working with.

You can't fool employees any longer. How about designing better work experiences where employees rave about their job? Employees want their work to mean something. Let's create work they love.
