Government to 'seriously' consider call for 'multi-employer bargaining agreements'

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says he can reveal the federal government will seriously consider the ACTU’s call for sector-wide bargaining rights.

“A senior government source has confirmed to me that they are taking seriously this pitch by the unions to allow for multi-employer bargaining agreements,” Mr Clennell told Sky News Australia.

“With the view being that this could be the only way wages will get moving in this country.”

Mr Clennell said the government's view of the "system of enterprise bargaining agreements with one employer" is that it’s “not lifting wages”.
