We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but yet another beloved film and television star has just passed away. Gilbert Gottfried, a comedian, and actor best known for his distinctly memorable albeit grating voice and blue humor, has just passed away at the age of 67. His family announced the tragic news on Tuesday April, 12, 2022.

While a specific cause of death wasn't given, Gottfried's family did mention that he had lost his battle to an undefined 'long illness'. Some news outlets have reported that his death was caused by recurrent ventricular tachycardia complicated by type II Myotonic dystrophy.

Gottfried might be best remembered for his overly exaggerated shrill voice and his crude humor, but he also contributed to a number of family-friendly films and television shows. In 1992, he provided the voice for the parrot Lago in Disney's Alladin. He would later reprise that role for subsequent Alladin sequels and TV shows.

Gottfried likewise voiced the character Digit LeBoid on PBS Kid's long-running science fiction children's show Cyberchase, as well as Kraang Subprime in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Up until 2011, Gottfried was also the voice of the Aflac Duck. He was fired after making a series of insensitive jokes about the tsunami that hit Japan that year. 75% of Aflac's business is conducted in Japan.

One of Gilbert's most significant film roles was in 1990s Problem Child. Despite the movie being panned by critics, it proved to be a huge commercial success.

In 2017, Gilbert, a documentary detailing Gottfried's life and career was released to critical acclaim.
