Foxconn incident: 60,000 employees left, China’s officials deny information of infected cases

On October 29, a video quickly went viral showing a Foxconn employee in Zhengzhou fleeing home overnight with his luggage. Reports said people walked two days and two nights to get home.

These statements are from a worker in an interview with Chinese language media outlet Da Ji Yuan and residents regarding the latest exodus of Foxconn workers.

A Twitter account named “FangShiMi” revealed the reason for the mass escape of Foxconn employees in Zhengzhou—the death of eight employees in a dormitory during the epidemic control period. The employees were all young people, the least likely group to be infected by the virus.
