Five delivery platform workers have died from work-related traffic accidents since January 2021. This has prompted the move to require platform companies to report all workplace injuries, so that workers receive the necessary compensation. Parliament has heard that the Workplace Safety and Health Council is also working with companies on a review to enhance safety. The Advisory Committee on Platform Workers is also looking at improving financial protection in case of work injury. This will apply to delivery persons, private hire car drivers and taxi drivers.
