Today, Mike speaks with Frida Polli, CEO and Founder at Pymetrics. This company uses neuroscience and AI to match people to their best jobs while removing gender and ethnic bias from the hiring process. Frida shares how she set core company values to help it grow in the best way it could. She also shares actionable advice for recruiters and entrepreneurs to help them assess their candidates effectively.

How did you scale your business from a single-employee organization to an over 124-employee team?

I always say that building a company is a little bit like having a relationship -- everybody's relationship is different. My co-founder and I have both had a scientific background that immensely helped us build a platform that attracted venture capital.

Though we don't have a secret sauce for our success, we identified six pro metrics to our functioning. And this was when we were a team of 30 employees. Those values involve helping everyone realize their true potential, choosing positivity and teamwork, turning bias into action, acting with transparency and integrity, and doing the impossible. Having that culture that manifests whatever aspect you're trying to promote in the world is super important.
What are some challenges to cost or operation that you’ve seen over the years?

One major challenge that came by recently was navigating COVID. Many of our clients had either stopped hiring or let people go. Because of that, instead of focusing on hiring alone, we also do a lot of mobility work. That has led us to a more robust and healthier platform overall.
Can you share a glimpse of the advice you give your clients on hiring and management?

We help clients focus on their talent within their organization and help them develop their true potential. What we shared with them includes developing their people and giving them internal mobility opportunities. It helps them retain the type of talent that they need, rather than walking them out of the door.
