Developing Audiences for Archaeology Inclusion Projects

Published
Wessex Archaeology presents this 90 minute workshop on Developing Audiences for Archaeology Inclusion Projects. This is the second workshop in a series for the Archaeology Audience Network (AAN). The AAN is a project that brings together many of the UK’s leading archaeological organisations to build the most accurate picture to date of the audiences that public and community archaeology attracts and engages with in England and make it freely accessible online.

Tiva Montalbano, Senior Adviser for Cultural Heritage and Strategic Projects at Wessex Archaeology hosts this workshop with the keynote speaker being Leigh Chalmers. Leigh is Wessex Archaeology's Heritage Inclusion Manager and over her extensive career in Wiltshire has worked with groups in museums, schools and even prisons.

In this session we will discuss how to engage non-traditional audiences in archaeology using inclusive approaches. Covering recruitment, adapting practice for creativity, inclusion and wellbeing leaving space for participant-led evolution, and measuring impact.
