Comedian Dave Chappelle was assaulted on stage at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night by a man who tackled him during his standup. Captured clear on camera was the aggressor on a gurney and being loaded into an emergency vehicle to be taken to a hospital. Witnesses at the event took to social media, saying that the man surged the stage and tackled Chappelle. According to ABC News, Chappelle and the man tussled on stage for some time before the man ran behind the stage curtain. Security staff found the man within the corner of the stage. Chappelle asked more than once for security to kick the man from stage. Comedian Chris Rock, who performed earlier within the night, came on stage with Chappelle minutes after the assault and made the joke: "Was that Will Smith?"Los Angeles police confirmed to Observer News that they reacted to an occurrence at the Hollywood Bowl around 10:45 p.m.
