The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Centre on a PIL by gig workers seeking social security from food delivery apps and cab aggregators. A notice has also been issued to the gig giants including Ola, Uber, Swiggy and Zomato. The apex court will hear the plea filed by the Indian Federation of App Based Transport Workers and two gig workers in January 2022, which wants classification of gig workers as "unorganised workers" as per law.
