Be a good manager - character traits that can boost your employee morale & loyalty

I want to be a good manager and have worked on these character traits to boost employee morale, productivity and loyalty.

There are many components to being a highly effective communicator and a leader. It is a complex mission to deal with people. You need to be able to understand people. This takes time to master. It is such a unique and highly valuable feat to be good at dealing with people. I think because of the difficulty of mastering the art of influence, the ability to influence people is so highly valued.

The character traits that I bring up in the video:
1. Be sincere and genuinely with the people you are working with. It will help you in all aspects of life and especially in your work life. People tend to see through other peoples' agendas. If that agenda is being genuinely nice to others, others will pick up on that and most likely react positively to it.

2. Be curious of other people. Be genuinely interested in the people you work with. Coming from a place of being genuinely interested in the people you are talking to might actually be the deal breaker for landing a new client and retaining employees.

3. Have 1-on-1 calls with the people you manage. Have these 1-on-1 conversations/meetings in order to get to know them better. Try having nothing else on the agenda than just getting to know each other better. Maybe you even make a new friend?

4. Motivate and inspire. The people you lead are your responsibility. Find out what the people you lead cares about. Find out what is within their interests and align yourself with their interests. Their results are your results in the end.

I like to view the people that I lead as an extension of me and therefore their results are my results. Motivate the people you lead by giving them what they want, not what you think they want.

5. Challenge people to keep on pushing forward. People want to be challenged. You need to challenge people in the way that they want to be challenged - this is why it is so important to actually understand what people want and what is within their interest.
