Augusta Chipotle Workers Stand Up for Workers Rights!

In June of 2022, workers at a Chipotle in Augusta, Maine filed to form an independent union, Chipotle United, to fight for better staffing and workplace safety. As news spread of their announcement, Chipotle workers in Michigan filed to form union and many others began contacting Chipotle for advice on forming unions.

Then on July 19, 2022 — on the day of their hearing with the National Labor Relations Board to set up the process for their union election — corporate announced that it was closing the store, a desperate and blatant act of union busting to send a warning to other Chipotle workers considering unionization.

But the Augusta Chipotle workers are united, their solidarity is strong and they remain committed to fighting for workers rights in the fast food industry in Maine.
