The 2022 Omega watches have been revealed, and "Watches Tonight" breaks down the entire collection with models, prices, and analysis of new features. Omega has launched a host of new Speedmaster and Seamaster watches with vivid colors, new capability, and -- in some cases -- more wearable sizes. Tonight's episode is a buyer's guide of the new Omega watch models for watch collectors seeking the latest in style and engineering.
Omega Seamaster product lines are expansive and disparate. But the core of the collection is the Seamaster Aqua Terra. It's the direct descendant of the first 1948 Omega Seamaster, which was a water resistant dress watch rather than a diver. For 2022, the Aqua Terra gains a new 38mm case size and a host of colorful metallic sunburst dials. Clearly conceived as a counter to the 2021 Rolex Oyster Perpetuals and their glossy "stella" dials, the new Seamaster Aqua Terra 38mm is a stylish all around option for both men and women who love watches. The 2022 Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 38 has a retail price of $6,000 -- which is $150 less than a Rolex Oyster Perpetual.
The Seamaster Diver 300M is the essential Omega dive watch. Although launched in its current form in 2018, the basic design has endured since 1993 thanks to its longstanding association with the James Bond film franchise. The 2022 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M adds a gloss green ceramic dial and matching bezel insert to the existing 42mm case and automatic co-axial caliber 8800. A helium escape valve, diving clasp with adjustable fit, and 300-meter water resistance remain standard. The 2022 Seamaster Diver 300M costs $5,100 on a rubber strap and $5,400 on a steel bracelet with diving clasp.
Omega's monstrous 2022 Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep is the production realization of the 2019 Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep Professional. Now available in grade five titanium or Omega O-Megasteel, the 45.5mm Ultra Deep lives up to its name with a diving depth rating of 6,000 meters. New dials arrive in the form of gradient-fade titanium and rich gloss lacquer. Automatic Master Chronometer caliber 8912 provides 60 hours of power reserve and resistance to shock as well as magnetism. A solid caseback ensures that this ISO 6425 rated diver is suitable for extreme depth as well as use with saturating diving techniques. Prices range from $11,200 for a steel Ultra Deep on a rubber strap to $12,300 for a titanium Ultra Deep on a textile strap. The steel model with matching bracelet is priced between these two extremes.
Finally, the new Omega Speedmaster 57 replaces the prior collection of the same name. Now 40.5mm in diameter instead of the prevous 41.5mm, the watch also sees its case reduced to a thickness of 12.99mm thanks to a manual wind caliber 9906 movement. All models use stainless steel construction, and buyers have a choice of bracelets or leather straps that are color matched to each mode's dial. A vintage-inspired "sandwich" dial is offered for historical purists looking for a "1957" Omega Speedmaster experience. Blue and green metallic sunburst dials are offered to suit modern tastes. And a PVD-applied red burgundy dial provides a matte dial option for watch buyers looking to leave behind the fads of the last decade. Prices range from $8,300 to $8,600 depending on the choice of strap or bracelet.
