Job Summary Orono Community Education offers a wide variety of programs, including a robust adult fitness and enrichment program and extensive aquatics programming. The Adult Enrichment and Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and oversight of adult enrichment and aquatics programs.
This position provides leadership and direction in accordance with established policies and best practices. The primary responsibilities include program planning, scheduling, implementation, assessment and supervision. Adults with Disabilities AWD Program Specialist coordinates programs, activities and initiatives designed to meet the needs of adults with disabilities and acts as a liaison between Community Education programs, services, and individuals to promote accessibility and equal opportunity. Duties: Coordinate, plan, and schedule outreach and organization of classes, activities, and programs for adults with disabilities and other related adult learning classes.
Work to specifically meet the needs of new and younger incoming participants through the expansion of recreational sports, healthy cooking classes, independent living skills and creative arts programming. Seek opportunities to create new strategic partnerships within Anoka-Hennepin as well as community-based organizations and area businesses that will support program expansion efforts.
Coordinate specific outreach and marketing activities for the program. Assist in the development of the annual budget and ongoing monitoring of expenses. Track and report program revenue and participation numbers regularly.
Prepare and develop grant proposals to help increase financial support of the program. Provide or facilitate reasonable accommodations for other Anoka-Hennepin Community Education programs. Coordinate the continuous process of needs assessment, implementation of best systems practices, and program evaluation for the adults with disabilities program as input to a process of continual program improvement.
Participate in area networking group CEND and other networking and professional development opportunities. Other duties as assigned by Adult Learning Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in education, recreation, or related field. Experience working with target audience. Strong computer skills, including using Internet search engines, email, and Google Suite Apps.
Strong oral and written communication skills and public relations skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions. One to three years experience implementing programs for adults with disabilities preferred.
Community Education experience preferred. Experience working with economically and culturally diverse populations preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing setting preferred.
