This program of study includes didactic, lab, simulated-lab and clinical requirements in preparation for the State Board written examination to obtain a special permit to legally perform advanced orthodontic duties. Our program is open to the entire dental community and continues to garner exceptional results on the written state board examination amongst institutional providers. If you are a Registered Dental Assistant, the OAP is a 55 hour program over two weekends and includes approximately 24 hours of clinical competency and skills development in your dental office.

This course in orthodontic procedures taught by Faculty experts, community orthodontists, and an orthodontic hygienist contains a lecture component didactic , which teaches the theoretical information required in order to understand the intra-oral procedures listed in the Guideline, and a clinical component hands-on , which teaches the intra-oral procedures listed in the Colleges Guideline. As outlined in the Guideline, participants will be evaluated on the components of each of the lecture didactic and clinical hands-on components of the course so as to determine whether the person is able to perform the intra-oral procedures and be issued a signed certificate of completion. The course will teach participants the following four intra-oral procedures:. The course is open to Level II Dental Assistants who have had a minimum of one year clinical experience.
