We support you to develop your employability skills and ensure that you find the right opportunity once you finish your studies, whether this is a graduate job, help to start a business or advice on further study.
Information for Students
Our career development model encourages flexibility, optimism, persistence and willingness to try new things. Additionally, the model uses four guiding principles or actions to navigate your career. We provide Career Access Professional Services CAPS for students and alumni who identify as a member of an equity-seeking group or have barriers to employment. The CAPS team provides individualized support to assist with all aspects of career development including exploration, preparation and the building of skills and confidence. What does resilience mean to you? To me, resilience means never giving up. Not giving up when things get hard, Failure and setbacks impact us all. Resilience is what happens when we keep going in spite of these challenges.

Our Careers Advisers will support you in your search for part time jobs during your study and permanent graduate jobs after your course completion at BU.
Work, volunteering and career planning
You can use our comprehensive online resources for researching your career in a wide range of sectors. Or you can look at using your degree and thinking about your interests and motivations. You can log into CareerHub to browse part-time vacancies and other opportunities. If you haven't worked in the UK before, you will need to apply for a national insurance number. All undergraduates can do a paid year-long placement in their penultimate year of study. Our dedicated Placements Team can help you get one from your first year.
Find a job
There are numerous ways faculty can assist students with career development. As primary influencers of students, faculty that emphasize the importance of beginning the process early make an enormous impact. Students are often compelled to take action after a conversation with a trusted professor. Faculty may also enlist direct assistance from the Center in the form of in-class presentations or career-related assignments. Individual Student Guidance If students raise questions about career options in individual meetings, you may find it helpful to direct them to the general Students page.
