Murtaza Amir joined TeleSpecialists in Amir completed his neurology training at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and completed his two-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.

Until recently, Dr. Amir practiced as an adult neurologist in Cumberland, MD. He held his own General Neurology private practice where he managed complex neurological cases and collaborated on patient care with local providers and neighboring academic centers. In these roles, he established the only Certified Primary Stroke Center in and was involved in local EMS, nursing, and community stroke education.

Since then, he has been working to improve stroke and neurological care in rural Maryland. Along with his clinical responsibilities at TeleSpecialists, Dr. Amir also serves as a Regional Medical Director for various hospitals partnering with TeleSpecialists. In this role, he works closely with the Quality and Process Improvement Team to continuously improve the neurological care provided to our patients.

Most recently, he joined the Implementation Team, assisting to guide hospitals through a smooth transition of in-person neurological care to a telemedicine platform.

Lorianne Avino Pereira completed her medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency in neurology at Drexel University College of Medicine. Following her residency, she then completed a fellowship in Neurocritical Care and Stroke.

In , Dr. Avino returned to Buffalo, NY and dedicated 14 years in practice in treating various neurologic conditions. She has had extensive experience in treating stroke patients, having worked with the neurovascular team at Gates Vascular Institute and participating in clinical trials.
