Ghostpoet, who real name is Obaro Ejimiwe, got together with a team of researchers at University College London to turn a skin biopsy into art, cutting off a tiny chunk of his skin as a sample. Stained purple, pink, blue and an aqua green, the up-close images of the human body become swirling, abstract paintings rather than mere clusters of cells, and provide an array of different covers for fans to choose from.

I wanted to get out of the city for a while and get closer to nature. RD: What are your memories like of London in the 90s , and then Coventry, where you studied in the 00s? What sticks with you the most about those two places?

Annoyed at the under-performance of his album Dark Days And Canapes, Ghostpoet sought refuge by opening his own coffee shop and bar, Radio Margate, moving to the artistic hub after spending nearly all of his life in South London. Ghostpoet mucked in, serving coffees by day and drinks at night. I felt I was at a point where I was over-qualified and underpaid. Getting out of the city and moving to Margate, trying new things, was to reinvigorate myself. I wanted that after seven years in music, where you put in a lot of work with no guarantee of anything. Evolving as an artist can confuse people.

South Londoner Obaro Ejimive aka Ghostpoet, is a musician who is hard to define. It was an instinct, more than anything. Nothing directly about customer services!
