Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is a growing charity committed to achieving our vision of a Wilder Derbyshire, to learn more about how we are run and our wilder vision for the future follow this link. We've been protecting wildlife and wild spaces in Derbyshire since Today, the political environment has changed but we are still fighting for wildlife and wild spaces. We will be increasingly bold and imaginative but we cannot do this by ourselves. As more people connect with wildlife we will build a growing movement.

We have a variety of roles from practical conservation, people engagement, marketing, retail and more. If none of our roles are currently suitable, check out our volunteering roles and see how else you can be part of the Trust whilst helping Derbyshire's wildlife.

For more conservation and wildlife jobs see environmentjob. We strongly value individual differences and identities and we actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and cultures. I work with a team of 4 staff to do this, not only on our Nature reserves but also across the landscape.

I love working for Derbyshire Wildlife Trust because it is an ambitious organisation, and we are not afraid to try new things, and we aim to conserve all wildlife from ground beetles to Osprey. I am really excited to be working on our Wild Peak program which will look to deliver landscape scale rewilding projects across the 5 counties of the Dark Peak.

I have the wonderful job of encouraging people to get outdoors and make their first connections with nature in order to help their health and wellbeing. I work to show that nature is for everyone, including for those who live in the city. As part of my role I collate, validate and prepare species records for upload to the database, respond to data enquiries, and help with other day-to-day aspects of running a records centre.

As a trainee I am also given many opportunities to get involved in the inspiring work that different people do around the Trust, opening my eyes to the many ways in which the DWT make a difference throughout Derbyshire.

At Derbyshire Wildlife Trust my role involves assisting the living landscape officers in managing and maintaining reserves and assisting volunteer groups in achieving the work they are set.

I also have had the freedom to work with the livestock team, surveyors and people engagement team who workshop for the public. Once my placement is complete, I will be in a position where breaking into nature conservation full time will be a far more realistic goal as I will have a good base of relevant experience, contacts in the industry and formal training from the Field Studies Council to bolster my CV.
