Focus Feels Off I am not quite sure what to make of this book. I feel like the author shared some interesting perspectives and insights on occasion, but the organization of the book felt off to me. So the emphasis, at least to me, should be on what the empath does for himself or herself.
It is strange to me that the focus at the Focus Feels Off I am not quite sure what to make of this book. It is strange to me that the focus at the beginning of the book is on relationships, starting with thriving in a romantic relationship before moving on to one of the particularly toxic forms of relationship, of an empath and a narcissist.
I have to say, lately that whole empath-narcissist relationship has been explored in a ton of books. I don't know why it is so popular these days. All books about empaths seem to mention this kind of relationship and what the authors all term narcissistic abuse. In this book in particular, I thought the ways that the author shared to overcome narcissistic abuse could have just been written from a more general standpoint, which would have been more impactful, not just about buzzwords.
What she suggests that the person does is actually just good tools. I also thought that the author made too many assumptions. Things that might only happen to some people or in particular circumstances were stated as if they were universal. Near the end of the book, the author did go over some more personal ways that empaths can evolve outside of relationships, including choosing a job that suits their sensitive nature. All in all, I felt a little disappointed in this book.
