It was another trying year. Yet, was better than its predecessor, when the pandemic hit and hit and hit and hit again. The vaccines were effective and reliable and have been approved for those age 5 and older. Children are being protected along with adults who have the mindset to do the right thing and get the shot and get their children protected as well. Fortunately for all of us, it seems that the covid Omicron variant is not as dangerous and intrusive as the Delta variant.
Yet, Omicron is exceptionally contagious, even for the vaccinated. Some low points will follow us into , for solutions do not come easy for gun violence, unruly people, hospital-worker shortages, and unyielding supply chain issues. This year, we must acknowledge our limitations and not dwell on things we cannot control. Despite the quickly spreading Omicron variant, we can still make a great year. A clean house rewards you with a great feeling. That extends to cleaning out your closets and even your garage. Take one project at a time so you will not be overwhelmed. While you are cleaning, consider ridding your life of people who do not contribute to your well-being, growth and development — the naysayers, the pessimists, the timewasters, those who generate negative energy.
Spend less time with them and stop allowing them to influence you. Purge people and situations that are holding you back. If your ambitions have been diminished or put on the backburner during the pandemic, pull them forward and burnish them a bit.
People are accomplishing great things during these crazy times. You can, too. If you want to go places in the new year, pack light. Get rid of some of the unnecessary baggage. A friend told me how his pastor uses this analogy to inspire the congregation. Get rid of those grudges and negative feelings, for they are not healthy and only weigh you down.

With less baggage, you will feel better and have a more positive attitude. You have much for which to be thankful, so focus on those things. If your personality is impacted by the alcohol and drugs you consume, just stop. By continuing to abuse your body and mind, you are simply making it more difficult to get the best out of life. After you adjust your mindset, reach out to family and friends. By doing so, you make them feel good, and it makes you feel better as well.
Take that good feeling a step farther and help others. Donate to a reliable charity or a religious organization. Be kind to others and lend a helping hand. Spend time working on your personal issues. Organize your life and step up your productivity and creativity. For example, get your finances and credit in order. Create a will. Make sure your health insurance and life insurance are up to date.
These positive actions can lead to long-time peace and contentment. Often, I hear people say they are bored. I find that astonishing, for I am never, ever bored. There is always something to do. Problem is, there never seems to be enough time to do all the things I want to do. One way to stay busy is to work to increase your income. If you already work too much, you may need to find a fulfilling hobby. There are thousands of options; you just need to find what stimulates your mind and interest.
There are people who collect shells, coins, pottery. Others enjoy reading specific types of books or literature, birdwatching or gardening. Many were intrigued by diver Tom Daley, who sat in the stands in Tokyo knitting after winning synchro platform Olympic gold. He has found a great way to keep his mind occupied and ease the stress. Take a course in a subject that has always intrigued you.
Tutor others in your area of expertise via Zoom. There are so many ways to enhance your mind and life. Read, observe, and listen. Strive for an open mind that is receptive to change. Most people becoming ill with the coronavirus have not been vaccinated.
The virus is spread through the air: Wear a mask. Some things are simply common sense, yet so many resist the obvious. One something man told me that his biggest regret is not completing his college degree.
It is not too late. Ready for a new job? With a shortage of workers, this is the time to get your resume out there. Longing for a new love? People are connecting and getting engaged every day. Seeking new experiences?
