Summer Intern Program
Following the campus guidelines for Coronavirus all UC Davis classes, lectures, seminars, labs and discussion sections will move to virtual instruction and remain virtual through the end of Summer Session , including final exams.

Roy March, the donor to the fund and graduate of UC Davis in economics, believes in the importance of internships as career-defining and even life-changing experiences.
Applicants should research internship opportunities and address their interests and qualifications through the questions listed below. Students completing an Internship in Economics ECN will receive upper division credit toward graduation requirements unit requirement but will not receive credit toward the Economics major. Typically units per quarter on rare occasion up to 4 units are given for internship credit. There is a 6-unit cap on total credits per student across all quarters granted for economics internships. Business and Economics Internship
Internships give economics majors an opportunity to polish the critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills they develop during their studies here and apply them in a professional setting. Internships are also a valuable way for students to explore various career options and build their professional networks. Rising sophomores and juniors have access to special funding from the Arts and Letters Summer Internship Program to help defray expenses. Internships may be paid or unpaid—and in any industry or geographic location. To apply for funding assistance, students must first secure an internship. The Career Center offers many resources to help students find and apply for internships in a wide range of industries.
Summer Internship 2022
The Department of Economics allows qualified students to receive academic credit toward their major for experience with businesses, government agencies, or appropriate non-profit organizations. The internship is intended to be a capstone experience in the major where students apply their economic knowledge in the workplace and relate the knowledge and skills they learn in the classroom to the real world. Students must 1 be juniors or seniors, 2 be majoring in Applied Economics or Economics, and 3 have at a minimum completed all core and supporting course requirements. To receive academic credit for the internship, students must be given meaningful assignments clearly related to the primary function of the organization with which they are placed. No internship placement can be approved without a written statement of your duties and your assigned work hours with the organization. The statement should be written on agency or organization stationary and be signed by your supervisor. Students work at an internship outside the department, and must complete assignments in order to get academic credit for the economics internship. Students are required to submit a weekly description of their internship activities, duties, and responsibilities; to complete a set of assignments; and at the end of the semester, to submit a paper that describes in detail the tasks they performed during the internship and discusses the skills and information required to accomplish each task.
