The main purpose of the role is to deliver on the editorial quality assurance of short course content, ensuring alignment with quality standards and styles of the university and 2U. The Lead Editor also oversees the editing and proofreading performed by Editors by conducting quality assurance of their work, and manages and supports their performance.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Edit and proofread written and multimedia course content according to internal quality frameworks and university standards. Oversee editing and proofreading work performed by the Editors to ensure quality standards are met, and arrange or facilitate training as needed to address any gaps or areas for improvement.

Manage professional development and performance of Editors. Assist with the recruitment and training of new Editors. Recommend and implement improvements to department processes, with a focus on quality and efficiency. A university qualification in linguistics, English, journalism, publishing, law or similar, completed in English. Excellent written skills, including thorough knowledge of grammar, syntax, spelling, and punctuation; and comfort working with both UK and US conventions.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Good organisational skills: ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a high-pressured environment.
